Colgate Posts Gain in 1Q

Colgate-Palmolive Company posted a jump in worldwide sales and unit volume growth together with higher than expected earnings growth for first quarter 2008. Worldwide sales grew 15.5% to $3.7 billion and unit volume grew 5%, as reported. First quarter 2008 results include $21.2 million in after-tax charges related to the 2004 Restructuring Program.
